Editorial note

   I would like to inform you that a new Iranian Biotechnology Web Site, http://www.iranbiotech.com, has been launched recently.  There is no doubt that information technology has generated a new window to the world of science, trade, and even personal life.  To promote better communication, internet is one of the fastest system among all others.  This has created a new era in scientific and  commercial activities.

   Biotechnology as well as information technology is recognized as the two fastest growing technologies in the last decade.  To utilize national and international potentials in promoting biotechnology industries in our country, we need to generate a proper telecommunication link.  Establishing a web site is the first step toward this goal.  We have been providing biotechnology news and information, to more than 300 members, through our “biotechnology news group” with the help of Information Department at Pasteur Institute of Iran during the past two years.  

   Biotechnology is such a fast-growing field of science in the world which has also  extended to our country.   I believe we need to generate some infrastructure to boost the biotechnology industrial movement in Iran.  Certainly, in parallel with the increase in research founds, laboratory equipment, human resources and international collaboration, we need to establish a way route of communication in order to expand our scientific as well as commercial relation. 

    This web site, iranbiotech.com, is established to facilitate our national and international collaborations.  This site will try to introduce the existiting potentials in the biotechnology industries and research capabilities to the rest of the world as well as inside the country.  I believe we have some potentials in our country to offer to the world and also we eagerly accept any scientific offers from other research centers and industries. 

    A window in this web site is created for “Questions & Answers” (Help desk) which is allocated to answer any technical questions in the area of biotechnology.  Our experts in different areas of biotechnology will try to answer any scientific and commercial questions that you have.  I would like to invite you to join our team of experts and contribute answers to potential questions. You can fill in the information sheet including your field of expertise, and we will include your name in our mailing list for question referrals. 

    We have also provided access to various Iranian research centers and biotech companies.  Here you can find all you need to know about biotechnology in Iran.  In addition, we try to create an environment that our scientists can find a business partner in order to market their scientific findings.  You can also announce your research findings and career opportunities or job recruitment in Iran. 

 I hope iranbiotech will promote this fast growing industry in Iran.
